They have a 1:16 chance, but I like them to make it past the 2nd round.

This is my answer every time this question is asked...Why not? Anything is possible. They Pens have definitely proved themselves as contenders this season. It's true that they don't have much experience at the Stanley Cup level...but with the determination they have showed thus far, why can't that take them all the way?

Who knows who will win in the end, but I sure hope the Pens raise some hell in the post-season...whatever the outcome, I'm still really impressed with the progress the team has made from last year to now...

Let's Go Pens!!!

They have a Young and exciting team, that is all. Their Goalie is inconsistent and needs playoff experience (actually you could almost say that for the whole team). A more experienced blueline is needed too. They might get to the conference finals, but that's all. No way they are taking down Buffalo or New Jersey in a 7 game series.

Give it 2 or 3 years yet. Be patient.

Anything could happen. Injuries play a key role. So does how many europeans a team has on it's roster. Believe it or not teams with a lot of europeans tend to disappear after the first two rounds. They wanna go home so bad they start mailing in their efforts.
Any team with a captain that isn't Canadian you can scratch off the list as potential winners as well. The numbers say it won't happen (since it has only happened once in over 100 years).

While I really don't think that Pittsburgh will end up winning the Cup this year, I think they have the potential to catch a lot of people off guard. I really wish my Hurricanes could repeat, but not with the way they are playing today.

Possible... and I hope they can do it.

I'm using their regular season games against there potential opponents...

So far they are 2-1 against the Sabres with one game remainign in the series
They are also 2-1 against Ottawa so far.
And I'm fairly certain the Pens could take either New York team, Tampa bay , and Carolina in the playoffs

I think the biggest problem facing the Penguins would be a faceoff against New Jersey...

If they did make it to the Final series... they could probably beat Nashville... I'm not sure about the other contending teams in the west.

Not a chance to win the cup. No goal tending and lack of playoff experience. If the Flames do hold on and make the playoffs, be afraid of them if kipper returns to form.

Buffalo is the favorite in the East. Anaheim or Detroit in the West according to the odds makers. 4/1

Pittsburgh is rated 6/1

The problem they have, is that they didn't get any help on the defensive end. They are not that good defensively. A lot of T.V. analysts talk about that. Plus they are too young, if they don't make it to the final, this will be a great learning experience.
