Unfortunately, the stretch marks will never disappear completely, but don't let that get you down!!
There are ceams and products which help lighten them, you can ask for them in any pharmacy - also, a couple of drops of mandarin essential oil mixed into olive or almond oil and massaged on every day can really help. (It helped me!!)
Aside from this, after a few months, as your body and skin starts to knit itsself back together, the marks will fade noticeably all by themselves. All you can do is help them along with one of the products I mentioned!
Good luck! :-)

They won't go away completely, but they should fade to a silvery color. I had my son 4mos. ago and mine
have faded only a little bit. The truth is that they are actually scars underneath the skin. A good option? Save up your money for a product called Srivectin. It is suppose to work like magic although it will run you abot $135 bucks. Or better yet just be comfy in your own skin! Your body may not be the same as before your pregnancy, but if you really weigh what's important, wasnt your baby worth a few strech marks?
Adleast for me, if I look at it that way, I feel better!

They say they fade to silvery type lines that are more noticeable when you are tan. My friend showed me hers the other day and she had a baby a year ago, the skin just looked discolored.
I have the same thing going on so I ask a lot of questions to my friends.

Yes it can, use lotion while your pregnant, helps your skin stretch out and cause less stretch marks. Also after pregnancy there are come skin tightening creams that can help the recovery. Otherwise they will mostly go away especially if you lose weight and exercise.

The wife recommends Bio-Oil or Palmers Coco Butter. Both can be found at your local pharmacy or bought on line eg www.boots.co.uk

They will probably never go away completely, but they will fade to a silvery-whitish color and not be very noticeable.
