i answered my own question. i went to the ER and after a long weight they took off my cast and put on a wrap/splint instead. they also took an xray that showed the fracture was unstable and had shifted so i'm going in for surgery tomorrow. the attending doc was amazed they hadn't done it from the beginning.

Get it seen to as soon as u can, if u can't go as other ppl have said raise it up and ice it. Lots of things could have caused it but none of them are good. it could be swelling, or that the cast is too tight or that ur foot has moved in the cast and jamming a vessel.

From what it sounds like, due to swelling it is putting too much pressure on your leg. Keep it raised, put an ice back on the cast(Yes that sounds stupid but it works). The cold from the ice pack will eventually reach your leg and will reduce the swelling. I had the same issues when i was in a cast last year.

Keep wiggling your toes until you can see a doctor (that will keep good circulation going)...you need to see a doctor/er right away if elevating your leg/foot does not help the swelling go down.
