does anyone else besides me (and players)grow a hockey beard or go tee at the start of the play offs

I am planning on growing a hockey beard in support of my team, the Minnesota Wild. it ain't getting shaved til we are knocked out which hopefully won't be til June!

There is a facebook group for guys who are Sabres fans growing a playoff beard, which I thought was amusing and was slightly saddened by my exclusion from. I obviously can't grow a playoff beard (being neither male nor Italian...don't report me--it's meant in jest, only!) but I do stop shaving my legs during the playoffs as a kind of token gesture to the playoff beard. I have a few other things that I do (wearing or avoiding certain colors, and the big one, never EVER saying the S------ C-- words!) but I think every fan has his or her own playoff rituals to try and influence the luck of hos or her chosen team. There's also a sports writer named Jim Kelley (no relation to the quarterback) who said he would not shave his beard off until the Sabres won it all when they first went to the finals in 1975, and true to his word his facial hair remains. That would be my definition of the ultimate playoff beard; that man has some kind of dedication!

I normally try to grow one, but it doesn't take long for me to shave. I root for both the Red Wings and the Pens. After all, the Red Wings always seem to get knocked out in the first round, and this is the first time in years that the Pens made the playoffs. So hopefully I can keep it for more than 2 weeks this year.

Oh I shall be growing a monster of a playoff beard to support the Pens... I just hope it won't get so large it blocks out them being handed the cup

well in the past several years a new trend came in the league and that's allot of younger players can't grow the beards so they dye their hair. but a good old playoff beard and missing teeth is what NHL playoffs is all about.
