I would like to go on vacation August 2007 for week with my fiance. We will be leaving from Ohio, with the preference of flying, but will drive distances btw 8-9 hours. I'd like to go to a nice clean beach, but am open to new ideas. We'd like to spend under $1000 and cheaper if possible. All inclusive or not, does not really matter. Just have vacation time and don't want it to go to waste, but trying to save for a wedding also.

driving is less hassle and cheaper than flying, put your money into what you'll enjoy when you get there. You can make it to Watauga Lake TN from Ohio in 5 hours and it won't be so bloody hot as the beach in August. See link below

How about Ocean City, Maryland or WIldwood, New Jersey. See if you can get a suite that has a mini kitchen where you can cut down on costs for meals.
