i've got my 5th hour of lessons in like 10 mins and i'm still really scared.

in the first 5 hours how much progress did you make? when do you become less nervous? how many lessons did you have to pass your test (if you have yet)?

Dunno if you'll get this in time for your lesson but... I'm at 40 lessons and still not ready for my test, that seems long to me compared to some people, but I remind myself that I grew up without a car in the family and have had no car to practice in apart from my lessons. Yes at 5 lessons I was definitely still scared and found it so difficult.
Think I started to get less nervous when I did start to make progress and it felt (a wee bit) more natural. Can't really tell you when that was but I remember being very excited when I went over 30mph the first time.
I'm having a break from it just now because Im skint, and I felt the instructor I had was holding me back, he didnt give much praise or reassurance. So if you continue feeling so nervous, think about whether your instructor could be better at putting you at ease.
Basically some people seem to be more natural at it than others and I definitely dont take to it naturally! It is normal that it is scary, just try as much as you can to relax as that will improve your concentration and performance.
Im rambling... but I feel your pain!! Good luck x
