Some women, as well as some men, are afraid of snakes.
As to your idea of studying snakes, I would strongly advise you to pursue it if you wish to make a career out of it. You may turn out a renowned herpetologist. However, as you have never been close to a snake, may be you could seek some training in a snake park or something like that before embarking on your studies.

well mabye you should get some experience first and you NEED to get experience if u have even the thought of handeling venomous snakes if you really want to get into the snake thing u could become a herpotologist that sounds very intresting some women are scared of snakes but so are some men i personally love snakes even thow i'm only 13 i have lots of pet snakes and they are just the best

I don't think it is a bad idea if you are interested. Who knows, you may become a famous herpetologist. I was interested in marine biology before I ever saw an ocean. Jacque Cousteau was my hero. How would we learn about things if we never studied them.
Some women are scared of snakes and some men are scared of snakes. Don't stereotype.
