Actually the best way to clean windows streak free and leave a shine on them is with what you clean and how. Start by going to your local janitorial supply store, the sell great window cleaning concentrate. A very little goes a long ways. Soap up the window and use a squeegee to clean off the cleanser. Passes must over lap each other to keep lines from forming. Be careful not to get much cleaner on the top frame, since it can hold it and after you get your window nice and clean, it will drip down leaving lines. Your window will be nice and shiny and streak free.
Also do not clean a window that is hot from the sun, this dries what ever you use on the glass leaving marks

get a glass cleaner with vinegar in it, and don't use paper towels!!! newspaper works the best....I messed up and did girlfriends car once....once turned into always now...never a streak if ya do it right, learned best time is near sunset, ya can really see if ya need to rub over a spot

WHITE VINEGAR cuts thru any gunk that's built up that would cause smearing. (I usually fill a large bowl with hot water, Dawn dish detergent (also cuts grease like nothing else!) & a big dollop of Vinegar. YOu can use the vinegar directly, spray it on, etc. Doesn't matter, just use it!)

NEWSPAPER to dry them after you've washed---something about the ink in newsprint).

Use a squeegee and dishwashing liquid, or at least make sure your cleaner doesn't contain ammonia that is usually what causes the streaks.

I usually just use dish detergent and water, then dry with a clean towel. It works pretty well for me :)
