Actually the passing standard can vary from school to school in case of std-IX as the ICSE board does not directly conduct the exams in IX. Std-IX has 4 compulsory subjects: Eng, 2nd Lang, Social Studies and Env. Edn. In these subjects the minimum pass mark is 35 and the average pass mark is 40 and you should not fail in more than one optional subjects.

For Class IX
Compulsory pass in English, Second Language, SUPW, History, Civics and Geography and any two other subjects. The pass mark for each subject is 40%.
