DANIA BEACH, Fla. - Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith died of an accidental overdose of a sleeping medication and at least eight other prescription drugs, and she had recently had a bacterial infection from injecting drugs into her buttocks, authorities said Monday.
Broward County Medical Examiner Joshua Perper said Smith died of "combined drug intoxication" with the sleeping medication chloral hydrate as the major factor. She had been taking a lengthy list of medications, including methadone for pain and valium, he said.
A bacterial infection from injecting medication in her buttocks and a viral infection contributed to her death, the autopsy report said.
Chloral hydrate is a sedative used to treat insomnia and alcohol withdrawal, relieve anxiety and ease post-surgery pain. Perper said Smith had been on several antidepressant and antianxiety drugs and had recently taken longevity medications, B12 and growth hormone.

I think that this woman died in a very sad way after living a very sad life. I'm not a fan of the woman, but anytime that someone dies at a young age, it is a bad thing. She had a baby and just lost her son several months before. Why don't we show some respect for the dead?

The point in question here is why was her physician prescribing so many different drugs to this woman? Further more, if the prescriptions came from different doctors, why is there not some warning system that would alert people of the amount and types of drugs that she is taking?
The only true tragedy about this situation is an innocent child will grow up not knowing her mother and is now left in a custody battle between a bunch of money/publicity hungry blood suckers!

I think that if we had used all the time and money we spent on Anna Nicole on ANYTHING ELSE this world would be a much happier place. It's sad that a person died, but, I mean, why is HER death such a big deal? How many people die everyday and get no press?

One thing I do not understand is how do these stars die of an accidental drug overdose. Do their doctors not realize what a deadly combination they are prescribing to their patients? I think the doctors that prescribed Anna Nicole all that medicine should be held liable for her death.

It's sad very sad. I really and truly believe that there is something else to it. Someone injected those shots into her A*S and someone was feeding her those pills - handfull after handfull!
May G*D rest her soul in peace and make sure her little Dannilynn is well taken care of away from Hollywood and all of its damaging & influential (sometimes bad - sometimes good) people.
We all make our own decisions in life hopefully when she is old enough - she will be wise about her life and the decisions she needs to make for herself.

I think I cared very little about Anna Nicole when she was alive, and I now care even less now that she is dead. It is always very sad when a person dies so young, but we all know she had a lot of problems in her life. What I can't stand is all these phonies acting genuinely concerned about her in her death when all they used to enjoy doing while she was alive was making fun of her.

probably being sick and subsequently treated in the bahamas (which may or may not meet governmental standards here on cleanliness) contributed to her death, along with the meds for her flu/infection and the meds they were giving her to treat depression from the death of her son, and the pain meds she was on for relief from the c section pain. this is what you worry about when you seek treatment for so many different things from so many different doctors. if you don't use the same pharmacist to get all the perscriptions, then you lose your final line of defense concerning the mixing of drugs and their effects on you. it's such a shame!!!!!

I think she was stupid. That's why she died. Survival of the fittest..
Anyone with 1/2 a brain could figure out that combining medications as much as she did will hurt or kill you!

I think that it is a sad story and i feel very bad for Dannielyn but i think anna nicole just wanted to be with her only son.
