I know that they all can be used t osave and display pictures.
So why is it that DIGITAL Cameras

Also are there other formats to save pictures in?
Thanks for any help that you folks can provide.

TIFF is a popular format for high color depth images, along with JPEG and PNG. JPEG is the format most used for storing and transmitting photographs on the internet. A raw image file contains minimally processed data from the image sensor of a digital camera or image scanner. Raw files are named this because they are not processed and ready to be used with a bitmap graphics editor or printed. Normally, the image must be processed and converted to an RGB format such as TIFF or JPEG before it can be manipulated/printed. The GIF format is unsuitable for reproducing color photographs and other images with continuous color, but it is well-suited for more simple images such as graphics or logos with solid areas of color.

bitmap are for smaller images, jpeg and gif are for viewing on the internet (or computer), pdf is for saving a photshop (or adobe program) file for and for usually viewing in adobe acrobat, and tiff is for high quality printing, or for saving a image to open in InDesign.
