which rear signal? right left or both? when using turn signal or not? do brake lights work correctly?
if the brake lights work correctly check:
if the light stays on when you are using your turn signal check the front turn signal bulb.
if front bulb is also on change the flasher unit.
if only one side is on when no lights should be on you have a short probably in turn signal switch.
if brake lights don't work correctly check brake light switch.
if these tests don't help add more info and I will respond or e-mail me with more info

The front signal bulb could be blown.

Change the light bulb. Anytime you have a light bulb that is burned out, it will not blink. Or, it could be that the flasher is out. Check the bulb(s) first.
