Long term effects (sexual) of piercing and or injury to groin?

If a man has been kicked in the groin or had a penis piercing in the past what would this do to his sexual functionability? Is there any way to un-desensitize him?

Once nerve damage is done....it is done.

But kicked in the groin should not cause nerve damage.
