what are you likes and dislikes about owning a trailor?

A friend of mine has one. Between the cost of his trailer and the cost of the lot rent he is only paying about $300 per month on the trailer. That is like one half to two-thirds what rent is around the area. And on top of that he has much more room in that trailer than he would in a 1 bedroom apartment which would cost more. And if he ever moves out, he can sell the trailer and recoup money. In a way, at the end if you figured it as rent after recouping the cost of the trailer when he sells it, it would be like $150 per month, which you couldn't beat.

The only bad perspectives I've seen is having to deal with some of the neighbors. Sometimes the neighbor kids can be brats and not leave your stuff alone. The other drawback is if you have a tornado. You don't really have any shelter at all.

If you choose the right trailer court, owning a trailor could be a very wise decision.

Trailers are a bad investment. They depreciate, instead of appreciate, like a house will. They also tend to fall apart, because of cheap construction. Most of the parts can't be replaced with standard stuff from your local home-improvement store. They are very hard to sell once you get tired of it, also. By the time you pay for it, you will have as much money in it as a house with the equivalent floorspace. I would look for a house that isn't new, but close to what you need, instead of buying a house trailer. Also, the trailers are difficult, almost impossible to insure once they get past 8 years old, or so.....

I dont own one but heres my opinion. I have looked in many in consideration because it is so inexpensive and then we could havetwo new cars, more vacations, lots of extra money...
They have some very nice trailers in gated communities with large porches, updated kitchens, now even some with garages. Ive seen some as big as 2000 sqft (big for a trailer).
Some can be bought and you own the trailer AND the land. In these there is far more personal yard space and sidewalks. We decided against it for a few reasons but I defiently dont look down on the idea or the residents. As for the single wides with rusty walls, different opinion, but its not my decidion to make.

Here in the west the owners of trailer parks are selling the land and making the tenants move and there is no where to go or the trailers are old and new parks won't take them. Condo's are a better way to go.

Raise your kids in a trailer and they'll end up on the Jerry Springer show. Kids are heavily influenced by the other kids around them so even if you aren't "trailer trash" you'll be living with neighbors who are that have kids that will influence yours.
