There is a humming or buzzing sound coming from the inside of the garage door opener unit, whether it's operating or not. The only way I can get rid of it, is to unplug the power cord. Plug it again 30 or so minutes later, there's no sound. Come back 15 to 30 minutes later and the sound is back. Insight anybody??

More that likely the buzzing you here is probably the motor contactor. It the relay switch that actually makes the motor turn on and off. Sometimes, because of usage dampness and age, the contact points can become a little sticky. About the only other thing in the unit that would buzz could be the control transformer. Take the lid off the unit , exposing the components plug it in and get it to do it's buzzing routine. Get an 18 inch piece of 1/4 inch wooden dowel rod, put 1 end in your ear and just touch the other end to the components in the box. You should be able to find the problem pretty fast, and since it's a Chraftsman , you should be able to get parts at Sears. Hope this helps.

It sounds like the motor in your garage door motor may be starting to go bad. Electric motors tend to do that when they start going bad. Does the motor still raise and lower your garage door?
