You advertise in the local paper for a period of time (depending on where you live). If they don't respond or show in court, you are awarded a no contest divorce.

There is something called an abandonment divorce. This allows you to divorce someone who isn't around.

You'll need to contact an attourney and find out if you are eligible for this type of filing. Some searching will need to happen in order to verify that the person can't be found. A divorce lawyer will have this information and guide you through it.

It depends on what state you are in. You can usually file for the divorce do a public notice and in some states it will take like 30 days or something and then they will give you a divorce. It's not that difficult. You could also try getting a lawyer but I think you can do it on your own.

an attorney would be able to find most people in less than an hour

if you truly could not find him your lawyer could file an affidavit that basically says you were diligent about trying to find him but couldnt, you could then have an attorney appointed in your jurisdiction to accept service and proceed with the case
