Is there anybody successful in propagation of african violets by leaf cuttings?

I tried to follow the book instruction. Cut the a healthy leaf, plant it immediately and wait for the cutting to develop roots. I have never been successful. Is there any other tricks?

My brother did this for years. Try soaking the leaf stem in water for a week or two until roots form then plant in soil.
