Great, as long as its a "priceless" society also.

a cashless society would cause more poverty and a bigger divide between rich and poor, credit card companies do not always give cards to people with a poor credit rating etc etc. Many people in life still prefer cash and do not trust banks, building society's etc to look after their money properly. Many people prefer to pay for what they can afford without getting into debt. A cashless society will create a society controlled by banks who are already overcharging for their services. Many will be caught in the credit spiral, suicide, debt, loss of property, over spending will increase and that way madness lies!!

I think that it would be impossible to go back to that now (except bartering at a gathering or show), but it seemed to work out great before. Like, everyone had their own particular job or craft and them just traded for what he or she needed and wanted. I love doing that on Shakedown Street. I've traded a hemp necklace I made for a breakfast burrito and I've traded a cigarette for a glass of spring water... a pack of smokes for a whip-it. It's awesome.
However, in society in general there would be no way of returning to that system after our current economy.
Oh wait a minute, you're not talking about money right, just CASH? Like if we only had cards right?
Oh, I've thought about that too and IT WOULD TOTALLY ERRADICATE CORNER DRUG SALES!!! Like , if you wanted to sell drugs, the only way that you could would be if you opened a legitimate business as a front and even then, your illegal activity would be easily trackable. I've often thought of that as a significant way to curb the drug problem. Then, if people did want drugs, they would have to barter for them like I was saying earlier. And I would just grow my own pot. It's the crack and heroin I'm looking to reduce.
However.... the guy above me is TOTALLY right.

I never use cash because is so inconvenient. I wish every place accepted credit/debit cards! Cashless transactions are more easilly trackable (which could be good or bad, depending on your perspective), but I like that aspect of it. I can keep track of every dollar I spend if I spend it electronically.

It's pretty much that way for me now... I use my bank visa check card for just about everything or a check makes life easier when you dont have to worry about running to an atm clear across town to grab 10 or 20 here and there as long as you are good at keeping track of your account, avialable funds, and receipts there really shouldnt be a problem
