I really liked the premise of the movie "Man of the Year." The people elected an honest, edgy comedian. We should do that. We need a politician that will run independently, work on both sides to do what's best and will be honest with us. I like John Stewart...any suggestions?

Because voters look to their leaders to govern their lives for them. No longer do these voters want to deal with the responsibility of their own lives.
Gvmt should do nothing more than to protect the rights of the individual. Let private industry own, improve, and maintain the roads.

Hey, if our federal government were doing things the way the constitution intended, you would barely feel their presence at all.
We need to get away from the idea of being "governed". Don't you know the constitution established the first and most radical system of SELF-GOVERNMENT ever created?
That is what made us so unique.
Sadly, we are progressing more and more to some kind of democratic perversion of government that was established by our founding fathers.
Technically, it shouldn't require much "leadership" to run our government.
Mostly they need to get our of our (citizens) way!

well.. first off.. you have retards or extremist ruling both major parties.. from the lib-tards of the left to the right winged wackos on the right... they pick the political cand.. and then that person softens what they say to appeal to the rest of the US... generally speaking those 2 people are not even close to what the rest of us think.. but we are stuck voting for them,,,
it would be very hard to get a real leader on the ticket..
most of our taxes go to lazy people to something called welfair... it isnt about what you can do for your country.. but what your country can do for you now a days

Because those who are actually educated enough, can't run up against money. because the cons (my lovely term for conservatives) have all conned money out of the american people, they use it to their advantage.
