Just wondering,
I mean like if the flowers bloom in late Feburary, something bad could happen later in the year. Is that true?

Usually most things happen are weather related...like hurricans and tonardos and such.

It can be considered a bad omen, because if the flowers and plants start to grow too soon, there's a pretty good chance that an over night freez could come in and destroy them. They can also destroy crops.

However, in a more generic sense, flowers are a simbol of life, and spring flowers are simbolic of life pushing through hard times (winter), so early flowers are a good omen in that sense.

The big problem is that the flowers that enter their blooming cycle early also leave the cycle early.

As for all the talk about evidence that the world is dying from global warming, i saw a science report that says that Mars is warming, too. Must be those dang American science cars we put up there. The CO2 is killing their planet, too.
(just joking. i think it's a solar system-wide thing because the sun is warming, but we sure as heck aren't helping)

Well, first, is there any specific culture's weather lore you are referring to? It could depend alot on what part of the world your are in. The indigenious- and likely pastoral- culture where you live might have be the 'authoritative source' on the omen or otherwise of early-blooming flowers. What might be true for old mountain lore in the Appalachians for these farmers (usually decendants of Scots- Irish and Cherokee) might not ring true at all in the mid-west for those farmers and weather-watchers.

All I can say is that I have not heard anything in relation to early blooming flowers here in the Appalachians- but then, I only heard about the one relating the number of misty summer and fall morning to snowy days in winter and spring just last year.

And yet again, there could be some scientific link relating early blooms to a long dry summer or something by studying the soil and climate patterns. I know they can discern climate patterns in history from core samples.

Well it could be that the flowers that bloomed simply bloom that early cause thats what they do -- but I think it would be a good sign rather then bad.

I don't believe it is a bad omen. More of a slither of Global Warming proof. Enjoy the blooms.

They bloomed early, that is a good sign. A sign of prosperity for you.

If they had bloomed late, or perhaps not at all, then that could be bad.

If the flowers are blooming, that means the ground is warming up. That is not surprising based on the new findings about global warming.

Bad Omen? Don't know but it is bad for the crops. Trees are budding here and the peach tree farmers are very worried about the freezing.

No, it means nothing. Don't worry about such things, nothing bad is going to happen because of that sign.

It just depends on when God wants things to happen. I believe that it is all pre-ordained, meaning everything happens for a reason and nothing really happens before it is supposed to.
