Do a background check on them before they are hired or a contract is signed. Also have a general exclusivity contract signed before doing any business with them.
Before I lost my I.T. Corporation due to being deployed to Iraq. I had to fire one of my V.P.s because I found out he was skimming from the Corp. I didn't look into what he was doing because he had these fake contracts drawn up but the real ones would be with the people we contracted out to. When his background came back, I found out that he: Skimmed from other businesses, started living in places but never paying rent and stayed until he was kicked out by law (three months) and never paid for any services rendered. I checked up on our contracts and found that he charged them more than what he was telling us and pocketing the money. I almost killed him, it took all I had to keep from wringing his neck. He eventually had to leave town so look out for anyone named Shane who seems too good to be true.
