Wow, you're funny.
And ignorant.
You're thinking of split-personality disorder, not schizophrenia.

Express that suicide is THE END. He wont feel good, he wont feel rested, he wont feel anything. He'll just be dead.
There is no good reason to commit suicide. Most people attempt it because they feel that it would lift the weight and pressure of life off of their shoulders, or it will make their family sad and appreciate them more. However, this is not the case. Even if it does make them appreciate him more, he won't be there to reap the benefits. And the pressure of life is simply what makes it what it is.
But whatever you do, a hostage negotiator is a bad idea, this will put more pressure on your friend [as opposed to you maybe thinking that is would make them feel as if people care about them so much as to call a professional (like some old 70's simcom) it wont happen. So, I wish you and your friend nothing but the best of luck. It's also good that you admit that you don't have all of the answers. because nobody's perfect and everybody needs help sometimes...

no he should be taking medication for that, my uncle was a schizophrenic and he had medication but he did kill himself well so we think we dont really no tho.
no just talk to him make him see what reasons he has to live like you being a great friend to him etc and anything else you can think of. or you could tell him how much he means to you and that you dont want to lose a great friend or you could a call a helpline and they will let you no wat tto do
hope everything turns out right
