It's worked fine the past couple of times I tried it. .It's basically a pipe that sticks up out of the ground with a spigot on the end that you have to pull all the way up to turn it on. So I was watering the plants today and pulled the handle all the way up. I got one watering can of water and then the water stopped flowing. I don't get it. The water inside the house works just fine. It's just the outside faucet that stopped working.

Any thoughts?

Lawn hydrants have a washer on the end of the stem that controls water flow. It is likely that it came disconnected from the stem and is now blocking the feed pipe. You may need to dig it up to fix it. If the handle pulls up easier now, the stem may have broken at the handle connection. Check this first. The bottom of the hydrant will be below frost level for your area.

Check the ground around the faucet to see if it's wet and soggy, you may have a busted pipe, or your spigot may have rusted inside and the pipe is clogged. Check and make sure nothing has come apart on the handle or have a plumber come out and check it, unless you feel up to it yourself in which case, turn the main water shut off and get a new faucet to replace your old one.
