by plane they told me i just need a photo id but i dont want to have a problem after i get to the airport

Legally, no. Not because you will be required to present your green card at any point, but because a permanent resident is supposed to have have his creen card on his person at all times. If you have applied for a replacement green card, then your passport would have a temporary I-551 stamp placed into it as proof of your permanent residency.

From a practical point of view, however, you should not encounter any problems if you didn't have your green card because because there are no immigration checkpoints within the United States, and you won't be asked by anyone to present your card. You will have to show some type of photo ID, and most people show either a driver's license or a state issued ID card.

You wouldn't have a problem flying from NY to FL without your green card. A driver's license or any other photo ID would do for domestic flights.

The driver's license can be used as an formal ID for traveling nationwide.
