The FDA does not require any small business to wear gloves. In fact it is up to the owner of the business to enforce it and gloves can be expensive if you have a large amount of employees.

Hands can be clean as long as they are aware of what they touch and do not pick their noses, cough onto bare hands to avoid coughing on food but then touch your food, grab a broom or clean the counter with a dirty towel then without washing their hands prepare your food again, or as long as they do not pick up anything with their hands before touching food items.

Keep in mind that if they are sick and have fever or a viral disease if they do not cover thier mouth, nose, or hands, they could always transfer the virus through liquids......sweat, saliva, mocus, etc...........

Best option you have is to buy groceries, prepare yourself a nice dinner and eat without worrying about who prepared your food and were they sick, or clean when they did it or before they did it!

By the way, none of the fast food or restaurants use the best of oils, so you are better off eating at home to get a healthy meal. You will notice a difference on how you feel and your weight if you stay away from fried foods and eat more veggies, broiling food is best and you can mix veggies with meats!!

Good luck!

Being a McDonald's Manager I assure you that this is not proper McDonalds procedure. There are still some counties within the United States that do not have required health codes that require employees to wear gloves when preparing food. However McDonalds Corporation does require that all their employees handeling food in any capacity do wear gloves. It is even required that people handling money must wash their hands afterwards each time before they wash dishes. Also all employees preparing food must change their gloves any time they touch their face or hair. Finally all employees are required to wash their hands a minimum of once an hour. I really hope this clears things up.

Because only a few states require workers to wear gloves when handling Ready To Eat food. Perhaps your state doesn't require it. Either way, most McDonald's don't use gloves, because there is never direct contact with ready to eat food (metallic shovel for fries, wax paper for hamburgers, etc.). Food that is not ready to eat can be handled in every state without gloves.

Steve

EDIT - as to some previous answerers, it doesn't matter how "experienced" you are, in some states it is illegal to ever come in contact with RTE food without gloves on both hands. This goes for McDonald's, the local diner, the four star restaurant, etc.

There suppose to wear gloves, but it's up to the management to enforce that there employees wear them. Just remember even if they wear gloves think about what there touching with them on as well. I left a wendy's one time because I seen someone putting something in a garbage can with gloves on. There was alot of germs there.

Some of the experienced dont wear gloves. i used to work at MCd and I always wore gloves but the managers sometimes got pissed because it took me a minute to get them on. When there are no customers the grill workers have to clean so they take off their gloves to clean and then if there is a rush then they have to go and start cooking quickly.

The foods already so toxic, what's the point of wearing gloves. If anything, the germs on the employees hands might just save your life...

Even if they wear gloves the food is generally not good for you. Watch the movie Super Size Me.

what difference would it make if they did wear gloves....do you really think they would put on a fresh pair of gloves every time they started a new order....the gloves are probably as dirty as the hands.....
