I do... No one can come up with original music... and the thing i cant stand the most is when rappers "remake" songs using classic songs from Super Tramp and The Police... Artists cant stay out for more than one 'hit' and that 'hit' blows over in a few weeks... Its just pitiful

Because the record companies have almost total control of the top 40 hit songs. Almost all of those songs are written by a formula, they are designer songs. There is a total lack of emotion and soul put into the song...instead they are made to be "trendy" and "catchy". It's almost like a mind-****, people get tricked into thinking a song is good because it's catchy and has all the right pieces.
That's why the top 40 songs are successful, it's almost like brainwashing. You know when you hear a song and hate it, then it starts to grow on you...or you learn the words...they wrote it for that exact purpose. They also play it over and over again to burn it into your brain.
They build their artists into something marketable, hyping up image and personality while downplaying genuine talent. They want to be able to "sell" an artist, not the music.
I can't stand it, the reason music is so disappointing today is because it's been diluted by the corporate world. So sad.
You have to venture away from the radio and MTV, there is good music out there...but it's not the garbage they try and feed you.

Actually I think it's some of the best. I like it a lot more than I like stuff from about the 70s to the 90s.
After all, recent times have produced stuff like:
Sigur Ros
Bjork (as in what she's doing today)
Beck (same as above)
Horse the Band
Mike Patton's many side projects
Refused
Boy Sets Fire
Coalesce
Converge
Fear Before the March of Flames
At the Drive In
Sparta
Mars Volta
Tool
Alexisonfire
PsyOpus
Dillinger Escape Plan
Into the Moat
Coheed and Cambria
Bright Eyes
Not to mention a number of experimental and fusion genres, such as metalcore, emo, screamo, melodic hardcore, post hardcore, jazz-hip hop, noise, noisecore, noise rock, mathcore, low-fi folk/acoustic, and a mess of other jazz, hip hop, metal, punk, rock and metal combinations. There's even a genre called "horrorcore", which is a subgenre of hip hop and a genre called "nintendocore", a subgenre of metal.
If you're willing to open your mind a little and try looking for music in places other than mainstream radio and tv there's so much out there it's mind boggling.

Almost all the stuff in the charts is rubbish now, but there are still good artists nowadays (Mika, Lady Sovereign and Mindless Self Indulgence among others, for a start!)
I think it's because most people are foolish enough to like predictable, bland American rap and pop-rock lyte boybands these days.
However, I'd think twice about referring to it as gay (You're looking at an answer from one right now XD)

I wouldnt go about saying its GAY. All of the musicians thats out there have ran out of stuff to sing about. Yes I say everything that I hear on the radio or see on t.v. is crappy. Thats why I listen to c.d.'s or try to have my radio stations tuned to the oldies. What I mean by the oldies, it could be anything from the late 60's to the early 90's.

Mainstream music became junk in the mid 80s. I think that's when producers found they could make more money by creating theri own acts rather than finding acts. The underground scene is still great.

its not the worst, but if your listening to mainstream stuff, like rap and pop, yeah it sucks, cuz noone is orginial anymore. they're just sampling and singing about the same things over and over again.
