We recently paid a person to do some body work on our 71 Mach1 Mustang. The job was not done, and this car as of now does not run. It ran excellent when it went into the body shop, to be painted . My question is, not only has this person who owns the body shop, was suppose to paint our car and fix some dents in it, has totally taken everything off or out. It dont run and the whole body color is primer. This person has done this as we can tell to alot of people, and was thrown out of 1 city because of this. We went to the courts to file a small claims on him and was told nothing can really be done. What would any of you's suggest, besides, finding this person alone and beating the money he owes us out of him.?

That does not seem right at all. You should be able to sue or at least file a claim. What I would do is consult a civil law attorney, maybe you can get a free consultation, then I would contact the BBB in your area. You can find them on line at www.bbb.com. and send them a complaint as well. I would fight this one and get every dime he owes you back and then some. The shop should be insured and he should be bonded, you can go after the insurance company also. Good luck and I hope you get some justice from this.

He can file a mechanic's lean against you. Sucks doesnt it?
Take him to small claims court and get a date where the car is returned to you in as good if not better shape with a third party mechanic being the watchdog. Also note that he would be responsible for any bills from the third mechanic.
