i am kind of a newbie and I like playing fun games. is resident evil 4 the kind of game for me since many people say its so good. i like challenging but not hard games.
I dont like games such as dmc 3 or ninja gaiden if thats of any help

Since you say you are a newbie, I wouldn't recommend RE4 just yet. It is very intense and this genre - survival horror - has you always short of resources and just on this side of death. I own it for GameCube and it is truly an awesome game, but you say you like "fun" games, so I'd start with others before RE4:
Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princess comes to mind. It is great fun, has a lot of depth, and is challenging without ever being impossible.
Other "fun" games I've enjoyed on GC: Pikmin 1 & 2, Metroid Prime (not Echoes), Donkey Konga, and Legend of Zelda - Wind Waker.
Once you think you are beyond "newbie" status, give RE4 a crack. You will enjoy it then.

Resident Evil 4 is one of my all-time favorite games. The gameplay is different from previous RE games. The game is challeging in certain parts but nothing near DMC or Gaiden. I own it on Gamecube but heard the PS2 version was just as good. Its coming out real soon for PC if you would rather play it on PC.

I really think you should get RE4 It is worth every penny. it is not hard and not very easy at the same time. And even when you finish the game you unlock a couple of mini games and some weapons. so yeah! My advice.. go for it :)

i am a huge RE person, i would say yeah you should totaly get it, but if u don't like hard games, well, there are some parts in RE4 that will bring out the worst in you. other than that, the game is pretty simple, and really fun!

if you have the gamecube, then get it for the gamecube. it's easier to control, and it's graphics are sexier. it makes full power of the small gamecube, and the elements are very easy to understand for n00bs, such as yourself. but overall, i'm sure it'll be a great pair for you playing it through to get a gist of the storyline and the very decent control sceme.
