This is a tough one. It all depends on the persons maturity level and their strive to move forward in life. I would say the youngest would be 14. They are a rare breed but some people are raised and brought up that their only purpose in life was to marry and bare children. These kind of people grow up fast. Under normal circumstances I would say 18. Marriage is forever. And the reasoning for being married should be valid, not for getting away from parents or because you suddenly got pregnant. Because you love that person and can't do anything without them. Going straight from parents into marriage could be the best thing. You still have opportunities to learn and grow and experience just the same things that single people do. I am now 26 and thought that experience and independance would help in the future. Now it is hard to settle down because I am independant and stuck in my ways and haven't had to share. So the answer is it just depends on the people involved in the marriage and what they want.

I disagree on attaching a number with marriage. I married as a teen and I was not lacking in emotional maturity, love, or responsibility. Everything I could of ever wanted in a partner, I had. What I lacked at that age was the patience to see that a few of the things I felt I needed and wasn't getting, were right around the corner. I lacked insight, all I needed to do was exercise a little patience instead of quitting.

Under the age of 23 or 24 would be too young.

A person needs a chance to get some life experiences first before they make that kind of permanent decision. Also, it's a good idea to finish school first!

For me, personally I would not have been mature enough anywhere under 24. I have a niece that got married just after her 20th birthday and I think she made a great choice for her. OK, you asked for a number. I think 20 should be the bare minimum.

Any age where there is no rational thinking.., 13, 15, 17, 22, 24, 29, 40 etc anyone who consistantly makes foolish choices is still too young.

Ohhh, you got Cat here. I was too young the first time. 19. I think mid twenties if you want kids, never if you don't. I didn't mean to get married the second time, but the tomcat is a great salesman.

Well, the "how old" part doesn't matter too much.

I am married, and I know there's no way in ____ that I could have done this at 16 or 17. No way.

Marriage is hard, and anyone that tells you otherwise isn't doing theirs the right way.

That's difficult! If you notice in society today that children are becoming very mature in the way they think! Under 17 is probably too young to consider marriage.

The teen years are formative years and for many, maturation is not complete until early twenties. I think no one should marry while still in the teens. They should be finishing school or starting university work.
