Yes. You get enough people thinking in a like manner, changing their lifestyle. It will work. Start with simple easy things, like recycling glass, picking up trash, riding bicycles and buses.

Friend,

I heard about Bombay what you have said.

It is very saddening that even educated, and those in charge of keeping the city clean too are becoming members of spoiling group.Bombay is a HISTORICAL city.EVERY EFFORT shall be made to preserve its sanctity, cleanliness.

Over population, slum areas, the floating people and the erosion in civic sense are the reasons that contribute to the present situation of the city.

You asked , CAN ONE PERSON BRING A CHANGE?
I am positive, and strongly believe that any movement starts actually as a spark in some ones mind and gradually spreads and finally achieves what is aimed.

similarly.if one strongly determines and puts into his idea into practice ,irrespective of odds, criticism, redicule etc , after some time , may be a few years THE CHANGE WILL DEFINITELY COME.
First it should start in small local areas,Say in one colony. All
colony members shall first be made to understand the benefits of cleanliness and shall be educated and made members of the programme. You can yourself start by collecting small contributions from residents of the colony, after forming like a society.Give a receipt to money collected.Purchase some 5or 6 RIKSHAS,engage 6 members as rikshaw pullers to them.Their work is daily go roud a specified path and collect garbage from each home and finally dump it outside,All the persons shall cover the entire small area.Let the area be small, to effectively implement the plan.collect say 50 Rs from each household to pay for the Rikshaw pullers and keep some amount for maintenance.Have monthly meetings and improve where you find some thing is lacking.after 6 months you will see some improvement and in a year your area will be clean.then take a second issue that is bothering and try to solve it.Gradually this spreads around and finally your dream comes true,.It looks simple but when implemented we face comments from our own friends.Don't bother.the results will speak.Actually we in AP did it and ahieved the results.we are happy now after 3 years.
Try,Definitely you will win.

God bless you and your attempt.

Yes, history says that it is possible for example Mahatma Gandhi. Truly speaking our country right now needs a second Mahatma to stop pollution not only in Mumbai but all over the country and especially pollution of our character and self esteem.

understand one basic thing. a man may start anything alone, but then gets the crowd as he goes along. the only thing is he should know how to lead, motivate and achieve the original purpose.

the only problem is as time progresses and crowd swells, the man looses direction and grip.

but then, every big fire is started by a small ignition

YES, the smallest of things can bring about change. the new nickleback video, shows many people bringing change, but they started out with one person only in each story, amnesty international, the women's march in washington. alot of changes out there need only start with one idea, one person willing to start the ball rolling......................
