bottom line: if you have a place to live, they think that in time you';ll be forced to take a Job and not be eligible for SSD. It's a huge attempt by government to deny benefits.
IN reality, many do work with one hand, but I feel for you and your situation.
Do not get a lawyer for this. They take 1/3 of your settlement and claim if paid. Call SS and ask why you are being denied. tell them you can't lift anything more than a handful of letters or a small bottle of water, because of what you've gone though, and you need your benefits. tell them the most you can do is lift 4 pounds. Do yo have back problems too? Add it in with proof.
They might send you to another medical exam.
BTW: Several state have short term disability. Apply immediately.

That's the problem with government assistance nowadays. If you don't really need it, i.e. you're an able bodied citizen fully capable of work, chances are you're more likely to get it.
If, however, you are deserving of it and do need it, you have to jump through hoops to get it.
People who don't need it seem to know how to exploit the system. Maybe the scum that exploit gov't assistance should write a book telling the rest of the world how to get it. Because if they can get it, why shouldn't a person that needs it be able to get it?

I would say a lawyer is your only alternative at this time..I worked in the legal system for forty years and sometimes a lawyer is the only thing left.. Make sure you get one that is versed in the ways of Social Security.... good luck

Been there done that! My husband has that is, but you HAVE TO HAVE a lawyer. Even with a lawyer it takes forever. You can find them all over who you don't have to pay, they take a portion of your back pay but other than that you don't payout of your pocket. It's worth it.
