If only Paisley and Adams could have agreed before this, all the killings could have been avoided.

What is so different now apart from a change of attitude? Neither side actually won anything but the losses were terrible for the families involved.

We must take care not to let it happen again in the other parts of the United Kingdom.

Who thinks this is a great day for us all ?

I am pleasantly surprised that we have got to this point. I thought it would be the next generation of politicians who would have to make peace, not this bunch of backward looking has-beens, but there you go, they have managed to work it out.

Mind you, you have a fair point, what they have actually 'worked out' is pretty much the same as the Sunningdale 1972 power sharing agreement. Just 35 years and 3000 dead people too late.

Still, today is a day to be optimistic. I have little regard for any politician, but it takes something for enemies to put aside 40 years of hatred and sit down together.

It is always good when a change of attitude permeates throughout the nation and this is what has happened in the North. People are burnt out from infighting, it happens in every war and then a change in favour of peace usually happens. It is no different here, politically the people want a change they have had enough and have matured enough to want change.

This war has been waged since the 1800's that's a long time and no one tends to forgive or forget.
What do we chant at every world cup football match when we play Germany......"we won the war"
People can be stupid,we don't tend to forget or think about what we are saying or doing to each other.

let's wait and see.Their political power comes from being the total opposite of each other. With them now working together it's possible that their support may dwindle.
