The PS3 will work as long as you get the right power adaptor. Remember that N. America uses 110V electrical systems while we use 220v. As for the games and Blu-rays, well, its easy enough to get Region 1 games here (just ebay it!) but there's another problem......Region 3 (which you mentioned) is not the North American and neither is it the European region code. Its the Region code for South Asia (India, China, Middle East etc). Now with the demand for games/DVDs from these countries being much lower than Europe or N. America, a Region 3 game or Blu-ray DVD might be very hard to get hold of. Choose Wiseley!

Edit- Oh and somebody else mentioned compatibility between Japanese and American PS3s and Games- Thats not surprising, because PS3 games are currently not region-encoded due to high demand. When demand stabilises, the region codes will be back- oh, and Blu-rays already have region code enforcement.

It will work in uk but the blu-ray discs are regioned so uk discs (region 2) will not work. The games are not region sensitive so it you can buy them from anywhere. There maybe an exploder disc to make it region 0 (any region)- if theres not one now there will be eventually. Snap it up sounds like a bargain.

I really think there will be no problem. My friends brother bought a PS3 in Japan while at the US Military base in JApan and he brought it here to the US and it works fine and even plays blu-ray disks from the US so maybe LOL
