It is already a law in many states. It is called an accounting. The court can order a recipient of child support to account periodically to the payor, showing where the money is spent, supported by receipts. A motion for an accounting is often required. Call a domestic relations attorney in the state where you live to see if any such laws are enacted in your state.

Not much can be done. the laws do not say exactly what the ex-wife has to do with the money. As long as the kids have a place to live, get clothed and fed, then you know the child support gets to them. My ex- tried to claim that all of the child support had to go toward her large mortgage on my ex-house, and that I had to give her more money for clothes and food, but I refused. When she told the kids I was refusing to help out with those things, I had a little chat with the kids, and explained how much support I gave, and what it was for. I never got asked for more money again, and the kids always have nice clothes and good food.
The real problem is the deadbeat dads who never pay what they owe. I have met so many divorced women who never get a dime. When I am paying $1200 a month, I feel sorry for those women.

I don't have kids but if you aren't in the house having to buy food and provide shelter, transportation, education, supplies, clothing, healthcare, etc., then you are supposed to give some money (an extremely fair amount) to the mother. The courts and the public are not concerned if each and every dollar goes to the kid. The idea is to make sure they are not homeless and do not go without. How about tougher legislation to make sure child support is PAID. If you have a problem with it, you should have kept it in your pants. If you want to help others, maybe you should share your experiences with younger people who still haven't made your mistakes. I personally think that it would be a waste of your time and a real shame for you to dwell on whether or not she is spending each dime on the kid. In the long run, that child will cost far more to raise than what you are giving.

Good luck. I've been through this after my divorce, and as you know by now there is nothing fair about child support.
As a man, you will have to give 20%+ of you earnings to your ex. Since money is fungible, you have absolutely no say where that money goes.
There are militant groups who want to prevent you from having more children, as they reason that you should support the kids that you aren't raising even more.
And if you ever get your kids back, the woman is not obligated to pay child support. Men are compelled to.
There are existing groups that are doing what you are asking.
Good luck.

I love this line of thought. Whatever the mother decides to use the money for is supporting your children. She needs a car to drive your child around, she needs to pay rent to house your child, she needs clothes for herself to provide an income for your child etc etc.... if you dont like the set up you should have thought of that before you got divorced or had a child out of wed lock, if youre upset about it file for joint custody. Get over yourself and start acting like a man

didnt i see this question before? in another section?
first of all, child support today is based upon BOTH parents incomes, thus BOTH parents support the childrens needs.
secondly, they dont require a break down of what its spent on because its common sense, and SO OBVIOUS:
you pay what? 400? 600? 900?
ok, lets see...
-rent; 1000
-electric 300-500
-food 400-600
-diapers 75-150 per month (fluctuates when baby is sick or teething)
-formula 200
-heat 300-400
-phone/cable 100
-auto; (for doctors, dentists, take to school when they miss the bus, pick up when sick, pick up medicines, get food, take to activities) 200
-clothing/shoes/boots 200-400 every 2 to 3 months
(seasonal and they grow)
that doesnt even include toys, dental, doctors, glasses, daycare, activities, hair cuts, school supplies, school lunches, school projects, class trips, class pictures, over the counter medicines, prescriptions, laundry det, dish det, cleaners, soap, shampoo, toothpaste, acne medicines, bras, pads, christmas, easter, halloween, tooth fairy, birthdays, etc. and sooo much more.
try calling 1-800- I CANT ADD
