To tell you the truth the cattle market is fluctuating a lot right now. Surprisingly steers are selling more expensive than heifers.

A lot pends on breeding, color, and sex.
In Texas right now weaned steers weighing about 475lbs are selling at $135 a head while the heifers weighing around 425-450 lbs are selling for around $120 a head. Personally as a rancher I prefer to buy black hide's but will settle on a well bred Charolais or even baldy. Most ranchers associate black hides to cattle being hardy and able to whether any type of weather that may come your way.

If you are wondering at around how much to price your cattle go to an auction and see where their price market is landing each breed, sex, color, and age cattle. You can price your as you see fit. But be careful not to price to high- cattle buyers will likely flock to the hardiest but cheapest cattle they can find.

Depends on how much they weigh...usual prices on the West coast over here is about .70-1.00 per pound if they are stout and healthy. Polled cattle around here means those without horns....the poll is the part of the head between the horns, but that is our slang. Weaning weight is the weight of the calf when they are taken away from their mothers...or weaned. When they are ready to be sold off...some are at 900 pounds others smaller....there is usually no fixed weight, but the more the better for a better price.

Price depends on the quality and pedigree. It can range from anywhere between $700 and $4000. Polled means that they were born without horns and won't have horns. Weaning weight is about 500-700 pounds.
