People think she is such a generous person, by giving away so many things on her show. Any celebrety can do that. She certainly does not pay for those things out of her pocket. All she does (or has people do for her) is convince companies to donate all those things so she can look good giving them away on her show! In reality, it is just advertising for the companies, and for her show! The people who get those gifts -- especially cars, have to pay taxes on all of those items, and most can't even afford to keep them! Those Pontiac G6's she gave away had the worst gas mileage of any new car, but all Pontiac got was lots of sales, because - hey -- if Oprah gace them away, they must be good. Are people really that gullible?

the force is strong with darth oprah,,, she speaks uponn the fears and hidden desires of women and exploits it to be something good, that only they and not men can relate too,,, the only men she does have and promote are emasculated eunichs that come off as non-thrteatening, like an airbrushed model in a woman's magazine,,, that and subliminal messages being piped across the airwaves and in her studio,,,

Oprah has addressed your question on her television show in the past. People recieving gifts are informed that they are responsible for paying taxes when accepting a gift on her show. And all those people still get a bargain, taxes or no taxes. Mostly I love Oprah because she reminds us about the good things in this world and how we, in simple ways, CAN make a difference.
Also, if you donate to her Angel Network - every single cent you donate goes to a good cause. There are no overhead costs (she pays for the overhead costs on her own). Come on, give her a break. You rarely see celebraties as giving as this woman is.

Yea but she still made herself, that is why she is so popular with woman. I would even go as far as to place her as a figure head for woman's independence.
