I say make it special and go to the fancy place. You can always go to Outback. Make them understand that its a special time and you want to remember it for what it is.
OUtback is for graduation dinners...not the prom.

If you're going with friends, go to outback because it is more laid back and you all can have fun, if it is just the two of you, opt for the nice place.

Don't go anywhere too fancy -- remember, your dates have to pay for dinner, and in most cases, they aren't that rich! Also, most "fancy" restaurants only serve food that most high school kids have never eaten, so it could be awkward. One suggestion is to see if anyone in your group has parents who belong to a Country Club. Those are nice places to go, and are easy to arrange group seating for.

I would go to a place like the Melting Pot or some kind of nice Italian restraunt. A place usally with like no bar or like a nice one like at the Melting Pot.
