This question affects my mark significantly (~4%). That's 1% of my average, and that means a lot in terms of rankings. This is also an important course in terms of jobs I'll be applying for. I know universities have no obligation or incentive to change my mark, so what should I do?

(It was a math-type dynamic programming question, so the answer isn't subjective)

Tell them about it! Even if they don't change things, they might be impressed that you caught the error. There could be gratitude and reward. Of course, if it's marked on a curve, others might have gotten it wrong in the same way too... and your mark might end up no better off.

It's not that important, unless you're on the verge of failure. With a science or math subject, a 2:2 is enough to get a good job, and a 3rd will get you entry into a lot of jobs with potential.

When you make an advancement to a job, let them make a test for you. This will help you get your job.

If there is a policy to contest a grade at your institution, follow those guidelines. Good luck!
