I love the movie. It's different and new.

The point is that it shows that how an action of someone/family can affect an action/familt millions of miles away without even knowing it.

The Japanese business gave an Morrocan (not sure what people from Morroco are called) man a gun who sold it to a freind whose son used it on an Americn family vacationing in Morroco. Because of the accident, the Nanny had to take the children to Mexico where she got in trouble with the Law.

It just shows how someway somehow, we are all connected in the world and how your actions can affect someone you don't even know.

The director of Babel, like a lot of contemporary film school grads, things that little things like plot or coherent narratives are "passe" or "old fashioned".

So they make stupid arty pseudointellectual films, that make no sense at all.

I think Babel was trying to make a point about gun control, and immigration and globalization - but, since the director was a pretentious idiot, nobody can figure out what the intended message was!

I took it as ' we are all connected somehow' type movie.
And the media thing about it. Everyone thinking that Brad Pitts character got attacked by terrorists bla bla..when it was really a little kid with a gun.Shows you how the media is full of it.

That's right.
The movie wasn't that great.
Showing the consequences of actions, like a ripple effect.
Bableling as in language, well that was kinda lost, as far as commuication.
Hated it!

No. they were trying to be sophisticated, like the constant gardener, but in reality it was just another 3rd world xountry movie meant to provoke thought.
