HERE IS ONE I KNOW!! :o) My son's birthday is April 3. On April 7th we're having a HUGE party for him. The only reason I'm doing this is because my husband and I both have a REALLY BIG family. I have 9 aunts and uncles and my husband has 4 aunts. SO! :o) Big party! We're doing it all together because I don't one 1 person saying "Well, Kaprices family got to see him play with his cake first". I don't want drama. So what we're doing is having a party at a pavilion at a local state park here in our town. We're going to Sam's and getting hamburgers and hotdogs, chips and baked beans. We're getting 1 big cake from Ingles (grocery store) and I bought all of my supplies online at a wholesale party place. And I got the things for goody bags at oriental trading.com and birthday express.com! We're doing a John Deere birthday party! I did it at the state park because of the putt-putt and the lake to do pedal boats and stuff for the parents! GOOD LUCK to you! *www.happysahm.com* - If you go to that website and go to FREE or Printables the links are there! Bye! :o)

Honestly, I think a 1st bday party is more for the parents then the child. You know, we actually made it through the first year. lol
For my son's 1st bday we just had over a small group of family members. There was no theme and served lunch, cake and ice cream. The most important thing to remember is to schedule the party during the time of day your baby is the happiest. For example, my son's party was from 11am-1pm.
Good luck and don't stress because the best part of the party is watching the little ones dive into their cake!

At this age, it is mainly a get together for adults and older children. Plan activities that you can do at your house, a cookout, or pool party. Or something small inside make some snacks and everyone can watch the baby go crazy on a cupcake for her birthday! One thing I did for my son's first birthday, I bought a bag of water balloons I didn't put water in them but blew up about 100 of them and had my entire living room floor covered in balloons, he crawled through them, he had so much fun just doing that and everyone enjoyed watching him.

My best friend had her daughter's bday party outside. They had a cupcake cake so it was easier for the kids to eat them. They have some really cute ones at Sam's Club for reasonable prices. They had water ballons for the kids to throw and one of her relatives dressed up like a clown and entertained the kids. Also if its a summer birthday slip and slides are fun.

My son is turning 1 in May. We're going to have his party at home, outside. No point in taking him to Chuck E. Cheese or anything, lol. Plan to grill burgers and such for everyone and have lots of things for the kids to do outside. Easier to have it at home so if he gets tired he can nap in his own bed, and all of his things he likes to play with are here. A store around here makes little birthday cakes, so we're getting one of those for him to demolish and a regular cake for everyone else. And of course, the hats and all the decorations!

I did cupcakes for my duaghters first birthday party. That way she can just tear it apart, and you'll get some great pics! As far as games, I had a pully pinata, and let her pull first, and she watched the other kids do it. Also, I did a chinese auction for the kids, go to the dollar store so it does not cost you alot of $....andother idea is wrap presents on top of each other.....wrap one, then put another on top of it and wrap again...and so on, and have the kids sit in a circle, and pay musical present toss...its fun for them. You can put in coins or dollar bills..kids love it.
Have fun!
