You should steal all of your company's toliet paper and leave copies of your write-up slip in the bathrooms next to the toliets.

Quite frankly, it was a nice gesture but your time away from normal duties likely DID result in not getting done everything you're specifically paid to do. They're right. I know it hurts, and that you were trying to do something helpful, but measuring toilet paper rolls isn't most employers' ideas of finding ways to save money... especially when the person measuring them is doing so WHILE on the job. If you had done so on your own time, they couldn't legally have written you up, except perhaps for trespassing because you were there during off hours. Sorry to say it... this is a bit of a lose/lose situation no matter WHEN you did the measuring.

Oh, wow, that is so unbelievably lame, but unfortunately, most companies are able to pull stunts like that without any legal repercussions. I have had stuff like that happen to me at work before. Just the other month, my insufferable beast-mother of a boss got on me for researching various copier dealers and reporting my findings about money we would save by staying with our current vendor rather than switching to the one the corporate office wanted us to switch to. I e-mailed a VP about it, and he called me up to let me know he was impressed with my work. I hung up feeling like DA MAN until my boss called me into her office a few hours later, saying she was "very disappointed" that I had gone over her head with all of that. The kicker? She had never been involved with anything to do with copiers and she was just being a control freak over nothing. So while it is grossly unfair how the higher-ups treat us, there is really no action to take other than quit, which is precisely what I did. I suggest you get on Monster or another job search agent and look for comparable jobs that make as much or more money, and find some employers who appreciate you more. Sorry that happened to you.

Suck it up, and prove to them that your not lacking in your job performance. Don't take it personal, they are probably using this to see what else you can put forth.
Honestly, toilet paper is kind of a funny way of recoiling money for the company. But hey its money earned back! Now see what else you can do. Keep your nose to the grind and prove to them that your an awesome employee who isn't lacking ANYWHERE.
If you work in a big corporation don't expect someone to come patting you on the back it isn't going to happen. More often they are going to do much of the same...keep your nose to the grind, your wasting time, how can you do better.
it is a game to them, they want more money all the time more money, no worker is ever efficient enough for them, you just have to break through their barriers and prove that you are.

Hide one roll of toilet paper up your jacket every day for the next few years and you'll recoup the money you might lose in salary after your "time wasting".......think of other inventive ways to steal toilet paper and you'll get your revenge in no time! Your grocery bill will be cut in half ;-)

Are you sure the real story is that they caught you masturbating in the bathroom too many times? They finally fired you for breaking your record of 9 times per shift.
Come on now, you can tell us. No really!

It just shows that working for people suck.
Try starting your own business and make sure you don't treat your employees this way.

If your job performance did suffer, they are correct. You have a primary job function, and that is your duty.
