Easily Jim Brown, if you guys forgot, Jim Brown also retired while still in his prime. He had 7 1,000 yard seasons out of the 9 he played, and remember, there was only 12 games a season back then. He averaged 5.4 yards a carry and 6.2 yards in one of his seasons. That is amazing. Jim Brown was EASILY the best rb every, followed by Barry Sanders, then Walter Peyton.

1. Barry Sanders
2. Walter Payton
3. Earl Campbell
4. Jim Brown
5. LaDainian Tomlinson

Now if anyone wants to knwo why I did not mention Emmitt Smith it is because his line did most of the work for him. He was a great back, but not in my top 5.

I am so glad that O.J. Simpson has not made anyone's list. Although, I feel he would have been on someone's list had he not auditioned for monster of the century by murdering his wife & her friend.
I'm also a little surprised to not see Eric Dickerson listed.....

The best, you ask?
1. Jim Brown
2. Sweetness, Sayers & Barry (tie)
The future: LT (who will be eventually be called the best by everyone), and Reggie

There is no question Barry Sanders had the talent to be the best, but, he retired early and his numbers are nowhere near the true best, and that's Emmitt Smith.

I can foresee LT becoming one of, if not the, best of all time, though, because the guy's got amazing, amazing talent and still yet untapped potential.

Jim Brown was the best. Barry Sanders was the most exciting. Both could have played 5 more years though.

By and far Barry Sanders. He played on one of the worst teams with no support really, and even though everyone knew the Lions were going to run all the time, he still broke the tackles, made the long runs, and carried his team, by himself, to the playoffs several times. If he had not retired early he would have easily broken most every rushing record.
