I am reading a book that has absolutely nothing to do with abortion and I should make it clear that I have no intentions of doing this...but I am reading a book and in it a teenage girl finds out that she is pregnant and and takes vitamin C for a week to have a miscarriage. I'm just wondering if this is true or is it something the author just made up?....again, I have NO intentions of doing this..I'm just curious!

Yes, apparently it is true. I found some other web sources on it. It has to be the Ascorbic Acid form of Vitamin C taken in very large doses to bring on a miscarriage. I researched it early on in my pregnancy after reading that too much Vitamin C could be harmful. Meanwhile, I thought I was doing a good thing by drinking OJ every day. Turns out the OJ wasn't a problem but if taken in large doses for days on end Ascorbic Acid forms of Vitamin C can be helpful.

There were a few other web sources I found too.

I have read that taking high dosage of vitamin C for a period of 10 days leads to abortion, but we're talking about 10 to 15 grams per day, which is huge. the report also mentioned that it causes a lot of side effects, like constipation or diarrhea, and gastro intestinal disorders (since it's acid)

No, it's true. You've got to take a hell of a lot of it, and there are risks involved, but it's like any other toxic substance when taken in ten-twelve times the normal amount.

I wouldnt think thats true. Mainly because this person would have to take so much vitamin c that they would come close to dying, or be really sick.
