Surface finish is something that is applied to the end product for protection, i.e a wood worktop could be finished with lacquer, the lacquer would be the surface finish... hope this helps.

What it says. Stain soaks beneath the surface, so they don't count - but polyurethane sits on the top for the most part, so it would be considered a surface treatment. Finish simply means the quality and texture - rough, smooth, wavy, speckled, etc.

Paint is a good example - it comes in matt, silk or gloss finish. It is how the surface appears.

you use 200 grit sandpaper litely sand then put on Finnish coat
