Any fule no it was Borman, Lovell & Anders in December 68.

Not to disagree with anyone, but Apollo 8 made the first trip *to* the moon - with Lovell, Borman & Anders.... Apollo 11 made the first landing - with Armstrong (who stepped on the moon first), and Aldrin. Michael Collins remained in orbit during that trip.

In all, there were 9 trips to the moon, with 3 guys on each mission, and 3 of them went twice (Lovell, Cernan, and Young) - for a total of 24 guys making the trip itself, and 12 of those actually walking on the surface.

quantum c is correct. It is somewhat of a trick question because your question was meant to trip us up. The first "TO" the moon was Apollo 8 in Dec 1968 flown by Lovell, Borman and Anders. They flew around a moon a few orbits and left.

The first to set foot on the moon was of course neil armstrong followed by buzz aldrin in july 1969.
