People don't know how to appreciate real music these days. John Mayer brings meaning and purpose into his songwriting, unlike many artists you hear on the radio.

John Mayer is the Barry Manilow of our generation. You want to hear somebody with real soul, check out Willy Mason or Josh Ritter.

Heard quite a few people say that it is not that they don't like him personally, overall critics agree he writes very good music, great melodies, and not a bad voice at all, but his lyrics are absolute crap...(I find that much true...nice tune of songs, but can't stand to listen to the words!)
He is not ugly, but doesn't have much of a stage presence...maybe if he'd listen to some of his critics comments, he'd be a little more popular...

I didn't know that people don't like him. But if so, it all comes down to individual tastes in music. There are a ton of people that DO like him. And I am one of them. I love his music. It's uplifting and relaxing. Especially the new album "Continuum."

i love John Mayer! he is amazing and so is his music. people really need to start listeing to his lyrics and realize how great his music is. :)

I do! He's a great guitarist with a really good voice for the blues. DISREGARD all of his early stuff.. he has. "Continuum" is a great CD as is "Try".

He's probably a nice guy. I just don't like his music. That song about " your bubble gum tongue" or whatever is such mush.

I have an aversion to pop stars; they seriously make me sick.
Still, I listened to "TRY!" and I love it.
