the reason i want to go with ready mix is becouse you have more control. with powder it is hard to get the same strength everytime.

Every baby is different, some times it takes a fair amount of trial an error to find what formula works best for them. My son was on similac for a while, then we changed to good start. The good start helped with his frequent tummy aches due to reflux, but he was have trouble passing stool. We recently switched to Enfamil Lipil with Iron and his poop is much more managable for him AND me! Can I ask why you will only use ready made? It is much more expensive for much less of a product, when all you need to do with the powder is shake it up with some water. Do you plan to use WIC (they cover most formula)? Below is an article about finding the right infant formula for your baby, good luck!

How old is your baby? Are you and your baby part of a WIC program? This is a good place you get help with your baby's nutricion. there you see a nutrisionist every 3 months and if your child has any problem with the milk or you have any concerns you can address it to them.

My son used enfamil with iron and its a very good milk. I barely breastfed my child,he was too impatient..hehe. I have heard Isomil is good and if you are buying it from your pocket and you see it expensive ,just use store brands,as long they have the same ingraidients and depends what your child need.

Here are different kinds of milk:

Many different formulas - at a wide variety of prices - are available these days, which can make the process of choosing one a little overwhelming at first. Of course, which brand you use is up to you, your baby, and your budget. All your friends may have told you that Brand XYZ is the way to go, but your baby might think differently.

Infant formula comes in three basic forms:

Powders require mixing with water and are the least expensive.
Concentrates are liquids that require diluting with water.
Ready-to-use (or ready-to-feed) liquids can be poured right into bottles. These are the most expensive but are convenient if you're traveling or can't get to a sterile water supply quickly.
And within those choices are even more choices. The many kinds of formula on the market include:

Cow's-milk-based formulas make up the vast majority of formulas. Most milk-based formulas have added iron, which the AAP recommends.
Soy-based formulas (for babies who may be lactose intolerant or allergic to cow's milk) sometimes have added iron.
Hypoallergenic formulas are for babies who can't tolerate the basic formulas. About 30% to 40% of infants who are allergic to cow's milk also are allergic to the protein in soy formulas. The proteins in these hypoallergenic formulas are broken down to their amino acid components and so are easier to digest.
Specialized formulas are designed for premature, low birth-weight babies.
Some formulas can be much pricier than others. All formulas manufactured in the United States have to meet strict nutritional standards from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), so just because a formula is name brand (versus generic) doesn't necessarily mean that it's the best for your baby.

To help you decide which one to pick when you're in that jam-packed formula aisle in the store, ask your child's doctor about which brands might be best for your baby.

I used Similac with Iron with my daughter, that was 13 years ago. With both of my boys, I used the Good Start. I think just about all formula's are the same as far as ingredients go. Some babies tolerate one formula over another though. It's really a trial and error type thing. Good luck to you & congrats!!!

I use Enfamil Lipil with Iron I have had no problems with it and you can join their beginnings program It is free to join. They sent my 2 free cans of formula when my baby was born and check/coupons for $7 and $3 off future purchases. You can join at Enfamil.com

As a mother of 2 who also chose not to breastfeed (partially due to medical condition) I used only Similac- ready to feed - just open the bottle, pour into baby's bottle and go to town. They also make a powered version, an organic version if that's what you're into and a formula called Isomil made from soy if gas is the issue with spit up and even one for babies who cannot tolerate milk.

More power to you for not giving in to the pressure and sticking with what you want for your baby. Good luck and congrats!

I used Good Start with my first son and I really liked it. I am using Similac right now and I am having a hard time with my youngest one taking it. Most of the formulas now come in the ready mixed format.

I used Enfamil Prosobee with all my children because that is what WIC gave. They all grew up fine and tollerated it well.
