And then sings about her cheating on him and then about smashing her car, slitting her tires and such.....would the song be a hit and become a star, or would he be arrested and banished from the music industry?

It would not do as well.

Women are allowed to seek retribution against men, but it's frowed upon for a man to do it to a woman. She is liberated, he is abusive, basically. It's unfair, but that's the way folks think.

Also, women don't stereotypically love their cars like men do, so bashing up her car would not be as good of a way to hurt a woman as, say, burning her shoes and throwing her purses in the lake.

Unfortunately, I don't think it would be as big of a hit. And all the women would freak out because it sounds stalkerish. I know... society's double standard. But it's because of the violence involved and because it would be a man singing it. But I don't think he would be arrested or banished.

If a male is going to do a song like that you'd have to make the public feel sorry for him instead of putting violence in. Realistically, it should work both ways. Even if the female sings it and there is violence involved. Why has this song become such a hit. It's acceptable because it's a beautiful blond singing it and that makes it okay?? I'm not ditzing Carrie Underwood. I love her voice. But it's a good question. Star for you.

I agree that there is a double standard but men are usually more aggressive. It's like how ppl can't be racist but people say nothing at homophobia. People need to get there standards right!

a lot of country music is about cheating from male or females so I doubt it would matter much. Its a stupid song anyway
