Keith,
Be careful when cleaning an LCD screen. There is a film over the screen that may be damaged by certain solvents. Don't use ammonia or alcohol.
I wouldn't clean the screen with a paper towel either due to the fact it may etch the screen.
I use http://www.pixelclean.com on my LCD TV and laptop. It works very well. They have a kit that has a micro fiber cloth, cleaner and some other stuff.
good luck.

Use a MacMuffin to clean your MacBook.
I just use a damp paper towel when I do clean my Laptop. Not dripping wet just damp and then wipe with a dry paper towel.
Many ways it can be done. Some are simple some cost money.
I have many computers, it what I do. But my IBM 770 (Which my Mom commandeered) is about 10 years old. I may have wiped it off 8 years ago. I think my mom use a dry tissue now and then as the keyboard look clean. My IBM iSeries is about 8 years old. I wipe the screen with a damp towel to clean off the dust when it thick enough to write my name. My keyboard well it has personality. My friends laugh and say they can tell which keys I use the most from the dust and then which keys are worn smooth from use. The Left Shift is a little dusty and the Right Shift actually a smooth glossy black for example.
I do use a nice soft bristle 1" paint brush to dust off my wireless card, I not like it looking dirty.

For LCD screens a very soft cloth, just a little damp will do the trick. Don't use cleaners (Windex, 409, etc...) most have a anti reflection film on the srceen to stop glare.. So just use what was posted above.

The screens of laptops are not made with glass, and are easily damagable, and expensive to replace. Some can be cleaned with a barely moistened, soft, lint-free cloth, but you should check your manual.

I gave mine a total bath last week, and it looks like new now.
Use rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball to clean the metal parts, case and screen. It should remove the crud immediately.
Take a picture of your keyboard.
Then take a small screw driver and gently, carefully pop all the key caps off. Put them in a warm bowl of water. Use a small vacuum, canned air, and q-tips dipped in alcohol to clean in between the keys.
Thoroughly scrub and dry each key cap, then pop them back on to the keyboard. Done!

Throw it out the window and buy a windows vista =p
Anyways, for my laptop, I just use a grease removing spray (like windex), I apply it to a dry cloth, and gently wipe everything off while the computer if shut off. But some materials used for notebooks dont work so well with any old cleaning spray. If you want to be careful, then go to a consumer electronics store and you can buy a spray specially designed for laptops to minimize the risk of damage.

Yes you do want to use water, and lots of it, and add a little bit of soap. It is also good to use the dishwasher. After it is good and wet, lay it open outside in the sun for a very long time until it is dry. After thsi is may still be a little wet, so you want to put it in the dryer for a while. Leave it in there for about 30 minutes and then you will want to cool it down, so you want to put it into the freezer for a while, or until frozen. After that it should be perfect and ready for the junk yard. Now go out and buy a Sony Vaio, or a real PC.

To clean the Laptop or Macbook body best thing would be Xylene based solution or mild soap solution. The soap we use for woolen cloths can be added with lot of water (1 : 20 )to make very thin solution.
Take a lint free cloth. The cloth of a cotton t-shirt is best example. You also can use the cloth we use to clean spectacle.
For the LCD screen safest solution is contact lens cleaner.
While cleaning you should dip the cloth in solution and wipe clean the surface. No solution should be directly poured on the Laptop. Also remove the battery and disconnect from mains while cleaning. Wait for at least 2 to 3 hours after cleaning before installing the battery and connect to mains.
