corn snakes dont get very large so a custom tank or enclosure is not necessary, although if you want to make one there is a site that sells plans. for an adult corn a 40 gal breeder, is more than sufficient an relatively inexpensive (around 100 for a critter keeper brand that has locking lid). then there are custom enclosures you could purchase like (Vision brand) they are more expensive but hold heat and humidity better than a glass tank. whether or not you need a heat light depends on how cold it gets in your house. here in AZ i dont need a heat light during the summer months, but i use them in winter along with a under tank heater (UTH)
best o luck to you and your snake

When we first got our snakes we used a fish tank (if it is small then a 10-20 gallon tank would work) that is cleaned out real good. and yes they need the heat lamp. and a container of water to soak itself in, that way it can shed.

i have two corn snakes and i use a heat lamp but i also use a heat mat, this is because i have a big viv and it takes alot to heat. but as long as you keep their temp about 24 26 c i dont think it matters what you use.

I have several corn snakes, and we dont use a heat lamp although we do use a small 5 watt light source, they do need fresh water and will eat dead food.

corn snakes don't get extremely large an aquarium will suffice, snakes need fresh clean water, your snake may or may not eat dead prey depending on what it has been given so far, need of a heat light is dependent upon the temperature of your home

I would recommend keeping it in a 40 breeder. Thats what I keep mine in. It works well. Just make sure you have a very secure lid. They love to escape. I would also recommend a heat lamp. Mine bask in theirs dailr. It helps them with their digestion and keeps them healthier. You only need it on in the day,not at night. I hope I helped, good luck!
